Lanternfly Treatment

According to PA agriculture, the spotted lanternfly has multiplied 10
fold since last year. in order to save our trees, we must take action.
The fly feeds on sumac trees and they must be cut down, as they are
invasive. Since there are none on our properties, other than maybe the parameter,
we need to address our own.

You will see an odd yellow band on the tree in front of and behind 104 Devonshire Way.
This is a gigantic fly trap due to the fact that these insects are in the grass
and hop to the tree at night and must climb, as they only fly sideways and downward.
They also hop. They do not bite you.

We personally must treat our own trees.
Pesticide and advice is available also from ACE Hardware in
Harleysville

In September these new adults will be laying egg masses, especially on

smooth bark. We need to learn what this looks like and scrape it off and into plastic bags in the trash.

Be aware if you use fly paper on trees, you may also catch birds!
